Stuck in the labyrinth.

November 5, 2009

It was late at night and i could not for some reason fall asleep and it really was annoying me. I was just laying there staring at my wall waiting for something to happen. Ten mintues later, still nothing. It went on for i dont know how long, until i just started thinking about something different. I turned my body over to the other side and closed my eyes. Once i closed my eyes, i pictured this whole painting of a theme being just like Alice in Wonderland.

The only problem was that i was Alice and at first it didnt seem like a wonderful place to be. It was a bit spooky and i felt like i was the only person there, i walked through different doors just so i could find my way out. I was searching high and low but still nothing was letting me out. As soon as i gave up, i noticed a door that looked different from the others. I went towards it and opened it.

Once i opened it i saw a whole new world, just right there infront of me. It seemed like i was in a normal place but i wasnt not sure. Trying to find my way around, i started walking around and searching for at least someone who could maybe help me. I found this little girl sitting there on a stool playing with her dolls. She looked up at me and smiled while saying “Hi there Sara, welcome to the place of  magic!” I looked at her when she said magic because i had no idea what she meant about it. “Magic? What do you mean magic? How is this a place of magic?” She smiled and replyed “Well, your just going to have to find out.” She got up very quickly and ran towards some trees until you couldnt see her. I was still standing there looking around confused and not knowing about what she meant. I thought it would have just been best if i kept walking and really find out what this place really was.

I walked straight for a while until a came up to a huge wall. It was a labyrinth with only one way in and no way out. There was just one door and it seemed like there was no way in. I walked towards and i pulled on it and it opened. I felt at that moment i was getting ready for something i would have never see in my life. I walked into the labyrinth and all i could see was two straight lines probably going nowhere.

I looked left and i looked right and i thought i should take the right and i instead took the left. I walked and walked, in which it felt like i’ve been walking for about three hours. Soon enough it surely turned into a labyrinth because i was making all different kinds of turns and taking different ways which seemed the same. I felt lost but i never gave up, i felt like there was something at the end.

I wanted to find out what was there and i just kept going through so much to find what i want to see at the end. I continued to walk for another two to three hours with many, many different turns and ways to go. I took a five minute break but i really left like i need an hours break but i got up and walked. I finally made it to the end of the labyrinth and the moment before me looking at what i saw, my alarm went off and woke me up to get ready for school.

“To be right is not always popular…To be popular is not always right.”

October 27, 2009

“To be right is not always popular…To be popular is not always right.” My reaction of this phase is that sometimes doing the right thing is not what other people do but being in the “in” crowd is not always that good because it could be  that your just included in the group because you might have the latest gossip. A lot of people in a certain group might dislike doing things a different way if they only like their way, they could really careless about right from wrong which ever way they do it is always right to them.

Father in Japan: ‘I didn’t do anything wrong’

October 1, 2009

This article is about a father named Christopher Savoie who never seems to have a right to see his children. He has a six year old daughter named Rebecca and a young son named Issac who is only eight years of age. “I want Americans to know what’s happening to me,” Christopher told his story “I didn’t do anything wrong. Children have the right to see both parents. It’s very important for my children to know both parents.” Japan does not agree with Christopher statement. As days pass and the trial goes on Japan says that the mother is the victim and that is the reason why the children are with their real mother. Christopher said this as his last time to see his kids for now, “love you, Isaac, Rebecca,” he said. “Your daddy loves you forever. I’ll be patient and strong until the day comes that I can see you both again. I am very sorry that I can’t be with you.” He would soon hopefully be back with his kids and  no one not even Japan could take them away.

Why I chose to come to Saint Mary’s High School

September 25, 2009

Last year i didn’t have a choice on what school to attend because i had already attended the elementary school and my younger brother was still in that school. He just had one more year until he could move up and then he would be a freshmen in high school. I thought that i would only be going to Saint Mary’s High School for a year and then i would be leaving and finally going to a school i would enjoy.  When the day came to register for Saint Mary’s High School, my mind was still made up and i didn’t change. I felt like I’ve been there all my life  and i would just be stuck there. When it came to be my first day of being a freshmen of this high school i met some really great people and luckily already knew many others. I felt comfortable around my new and old friends. I felt welcome with my new group of friends i started to have a different feeling of this school. After meeting some great people in my freshmen year i felt different about everything and it really opened my eyes on different things towards the school. Now i feel like i am at home.

How to Correct Bad Posture

September 24, 2009

When i googled in “How to Correct Bad Posture”, i found a website called “http://www.ehow.com/how_4616656_correct-bad-posture.html” On this website i found at least five bullet points that talk about what we had talked about in Mrs. Fagan’s class. And they are;

1. You all should do all different kinds of posture streches and exercises slowly, without over streching.

2.  All of the hours of sitting infront of the computer and slouching will soon catch up with you, so it is better if you get up between a few hours and just move around for a bit before sitting back down.

3.  A good exercise to start is with would be working on your lower back, sit near the end of the chair so that  your feet are at a right angle to the ground and more than a shoulder’s width apart. Lean over slowly so that your shoulders will be between your knees. Lay your hands on the floor and try as much as you can to reach through the chair to the floor behind it.

4.  If you have bad posture problems, you should not be lifting anything over your head.

5.  If you have just a bit of a mild back posture  this can be prevented and treated with exercising and streching out during and after you are using the computer.

Tiny T. rex fossil discovery startles scientists

September 18, 2009
  1. Who/what is this article about?  This article is about a tiny Tyrannosaurus rex, who had the same features back 125 million years ago. But the only thing different here is that this T-rex was only nine feet tall and only weighted about 150 pounds. Also that it lived 60 million years before Tyrannosaurus rex came to earth.
  2. Where was this article taking place?  They had found the fossil in northeastern China. Where they discovered it by the lake beds.
  3. What is the topic comparing and/or contrasting? “The most interesting and important thing about this new fossil is that It is completely unexpected,” said Stephen Brusatte, co-author of the article. But she also added that it is getting harder to find fossils that can throw us off of curve.
  4. When did this particular situation occur? Many scientists think that this would have to be the very first time they have ever deal with anything like this before. It’s extremely rare.
  5. All of the pictorial and factual evidence has helped you shape your thoughts on this topic. In your own words, please predict one possible solution/outcome of this situation. I honestly believe that they will soon find out more information about this tiny t-rex and predict more information on this tiny t-rex and find out that maybe this was the very first t-rex on earth before the normal sized one’s came.
  6. Compare this article with something you have read or seen before.  Why does this ring a bell?  (this could be a song, television show, movie, friend, life experience etc.) This article just made me think about jurassic park and how they had all different kinds of dinosaur in a theme park. And how “fake” dinosaurs were scientifically made by chemicals and fake DNA.
  7. Give some instances where this article looses your attention.  Why?  What were they discussing? At some point i losted it lost my attention by reading the part  when they had to send it back to China. I would really want them to learn more information on this fossil.
  8. If you could pick a different ending to this particular situation, what would it be and why? I would say i would hope that they would not bring it back to China but that they should study and looking for more information on the fossil. They would learn many things and even more information on this fossil.
  9. What is the most important message that is embedded within this story?  The important message in this article that really spoke out to me was talking about that there was life way before dinosaur. Even when there was a tiny t-rex, there might have many different and small things that would have been on the earth.
  10. Did you agree or disagree with the decision making in this story? (This may be hard if your article does not pertain to an individual; try your best)  I believe that the scientists who are working hard to find out this information and test around with the fossil is a big step to even see what was there even before dinosaurs were on earth.
